Street parking available...a good time for alternative transportation

If you're driving to the church, plan to park on the street as the parking lot is trashed (in a good way) and can't be used. The guys are doing a great job ripping out the asphalt.

The parking lot is unavailable during construction.
Plan to park on the street: Euclid Ave. or Washington Blvd.

Now is a great time to consider alternative transportation as you are able. For example: walking.  Euclid is a church you can walk to.

Café Church starts at 9:30 a.m. in the summer.
Bike riding is good, too. Bike parking is the best deal at the church, right by the east doors on Euclid Ave. In my experience, many of life's problems can be solved by bike riding. Just sayin'.

Following the ceremonial ground breaking...

Here's some actual ground being broken. Good-bye asphalt!

Here's the beginning of the true breaking of the ground/asphalt parking lot.

Dig the Dirt, Doug Dixon!

I was noticing all those "D" sounds from yesterday's post and was inspired to find a song about the letter D for your edification and enjoyment. Click on the link below to enjoy this video courtesy of Sesame Street.

Groundbreaking Wonderfulness!

Hi and welcome!

I'm Anne, your Personal Euclid Avenue United Methodist Church Geothermal/Permeable Brick Parking Lot Surface Blogger (PEAUMCGPBPLSB). More importantly, thanks for stopping by this blog, where I'll share pictures as well as news and thoughts as this whole geothermal thing happens. The links on the right provide lots of information on geothermal heating and cooling and related topics.

So we broke ground today on the geothermal project! We've been planning and working and waiting for soooo long, and now it's starting. In my mind, this could not be cooler. Well, it was hot today, but I think you get my drift. Here's a picture of Doug Dixon, co-chair of the capital campaign team, breaking some ground. Dig the dirt, man!

Doug Dixon, breaking ground!

Really this project is two projects: the geothermal heating system plus the paving of the parking lot with permeable brick pavers (rather than asphalt) to allow water to more naturally return to the earth.

Please become a follower of this blog and feel free to make comments and ask questions as they occur to you. I'll try to answer all your questions and even just hang out and talk about things if you feel like chatting.

Here are some more pictures from today's festivities. Enjoy!
